Journal #47

Howdy.
I’m sat in private study at the moment. I have my practical for my ISA in half an hour (skills assessment for biology.)
I got bored looking through my notes so I thought I’d blog, and besides, I’m a couple days late for my journal.
So last Monday, school was shut as there was somewhat heavy snow all day Sunday. So I went to see Les Misérables with Chlorine, AZ and Mikado. It was really good! I was a bit skeptic as I wasn’t sure how they’d produce it compared to theatre productions I’ve seen of it. It was great, the songs beautifully done, the directing too.

So, my 52 this week was #43 ‘take a photo of yourself daily for a week’ now I honestly did complete this task, but as a rule, I don’t post pictures of myself on here, which means I obviously can’t post them up here.
It was weird-looking back on the photos I took. Being a 17-year-old, I didn’t just take one picture everyday, and on some days where I was hyper and took many hilarious pictures it made me smile to look back on them. Other days I was clearly shattered so the one or two pictures I took were straight-faced, black-eyed.
I’ve always wanted to take a picture a day, in the same pose, in the same place for a year, just to see how I change. After all, you don’t always notice the small changes that take place, especially those that take a while to change. Continue reading

Journal #46

Heyy everyone.
I’m shattered so this will be quite short I think.
So on Monday, me and Sands did some zumba which was hilarious. Also, our heating and hot water broke again so it was great fun sitting in the freezing. My cousin came round and looked at it though and it sorted itself out thankfully.

Journal #45

Hello.

So on Monday me and Sands did get our jog done. It was tough and we ended up crawling around her house, too tired to stand by the end of it, but its a start. After our jog, we planned to go to the library and get a whole day of revision done. Yeah, that never happened. Instead we sat on her bed all day, watching YouTube videos and gossiping and basically in hysterics all day.
On Tuesday we returned to school. Boo. But it wasn’t too bad. Me and Chlorine finally got to swap our ’52s’ which was great. I also had a half day due to my exam being the next day, but rather than revise I chilled and tried to prevent myself from getting too stressed.

So this morning I said that I hoped I’d get to see the sunset today. In a way I did. I got a good jog done with Sands and we had to jog on the streets as the park was shut. We began jogging around 4:15 ish so the sun was setting. It was nice to see how the environment changed. Although I couldn’t see the sun, it was still nice to experience the change in atmosphere. Especially as the darker it got and the longer we jogged, me and Sands’ confidence grew and we began to find it enjoyable and decided we prefer jogging on the streets as opposed to the park.
Sorry Chlorine that I didn’t quite get to see the sunset… Does jogging in it count? Haha

1+2/52

Chlorine and I finally managed to swap 52s yesterday. That’s what we’re calling it. 52 tasks and challenges, one for every week of the year.

We opened them at school, and decided to do 2 tasks this week as we were unable to do one last week since we hadn’t seen each other to pass on the jars.

Journal #44

Hello!
So the last time we spoke it was just before new year so I hope you had a great night and that this year is amazing for you.

So, on Sunday I got some more revision done, and also made my 52 things for Chlorine which consists of one task she has to do every week and she’s made me one too.

Banana and Chocolate Back To School Bars.

image

So mum asked me to make a banana cake today as we had a couple of bananas that needed eating. somehow we have managed to lose all three of our loaf tins which is really annoying at times like this. well, alast year i was given a new baking tray that has holes for making cake bars and very mini loaves. i thought i’d experiment and see what happened if i took a recipe and altered it. so here goes:

you will need:
– 2 cups of self raising flour
– 1 cup of sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 2 bananas (the riper the better)
– 1 cup of chocolate (I used a large chocolate Santa! you could use chocolate buttons or chips to save chopping if you want. Bars of chocolate don’t work well in the cake bar mould as they’re too big but would work well in a full size loaf.)
– 1 egg
– 1/2 cup of milk
– 1/4 cup of butter (melted)
– optional: smarties for decoration

equipment:
– sieve (however i didn’t sift my ingredients so it’s not essential)
– spatula
– large mixing bowl
– fork to mash bananas
– wooden spoon
– baking tray (if you don’t have a cake bar mould, you can use the same recipe in fairy cake cases, or in a loaf tin)

1. Preheat the oven to 180*C/350*F and grease cake tin

2. Combine all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

3. Mash the bananas to a smooth paste

4. Add all other ingredients (minus the smarties) and combine until well mixed and smooth

5. Pour into cake tins

6. Place smarties on top of the cake mix.

7. Place in the middle of the oven and cook for around 20 minutes or until well risen and golden. You can pierce the middle of a cake with a skewer and if it comes out clean, they’re cooked! (for fairy cakes around 15-20 minutes i reckon, the recipe i remember says 1 hour for a loaf tin. it will depend on your oven so just keep an eye on them.)

8. Enjoy!

I wasn’t sure how these would turn out, the smarties lost some of their colour and the colouring leaked onto the mix, but I quite like the messy look of them. They taste great, not too much banana but just enough, and enough chocolate to balance it all out.

I highly recommend getting one of these cake moulds, perfect snack size cake bars made and are great for me and my brothers lunches.
